Misconceptions on the Topic of Sex
(What Are You Allowed To Do Sexually?)

    Bible Truth Vs. Church Doctrine

Today, I realized just how a couple slightly off scriptural interpretations can appear to make God's law say something entirely different. And, I can tell you that the common interpretation on scripture regarding sex and marriage appears, at first, to be convincingly correct. That is, until it is brought under close scrutiny, using the Old Testament and the Bible's original languages.

Around 12 years ago, God put a Bible verse in my mind, whenever I thought of the topic of pornography. And at the time, it made absolutely no sense to me. It took God a number of years to explain to me what he meant when he quoted sections of 1 Timothy 4:1-5. It reads, "4:1 Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils; 4:2 Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron; 4:3 Forbidding to marry, [and commanding] to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving of them which believe and know the truth. 4:4 For every creature of God [is] good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving: 4:5 For it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer."

What God basically said to me was that not all pornography was bad. And then he would quote to me the portion above that says "Forbidding to marry, [and commanding] to abstain from meats". At the time, I could not even imagine how this verse had anything to do with pornography. However, today, I know exactly how it relates, and I created an article here that explains. The main gist of it is that marrying signifies sex and meats signifies food. So, God is saying here, that in the "latter times" (which was could be refering to around 1230 AD when the Catholic church instituted rules against priests marrying), some shall depart from the faith, listening to devils and deceiving spirits. And, the doctrine which led to this error was the teaching of St. Augustine on the topic of sex.. He taught that sex was intrinisically sinful, which led Christians to believe that you can be more holy by not having sex (i.e. ~ monks, nuns, etc). So, in a very round about way, it does have something to do with sex and even pornography.

What I want to do in this article here is point out all the sexual actions you can do as a Christian.

I know, sounds crazy, right? Well, the point is, that the Bible does not restrict you in all the ways you may assume. The standard Christian viewpoint has errors and my goal here is to show you where and where not the Bible limits you as a Christian..

First, I would like to point out, that not every form of harlotry is sinful. You will likely be astounded regarding this, as I actually prove it using virtually every scripture in the Bible on the topic of prostitution. Yes, believe it or not, certain types of prostitution are literally not sinful (though, risky and not God's ideal). I prove my whole theory here and show how it is in agreement with the entirety of scripture. It actually fits much better and harmonizes scripture, while the common theory on prostitution is lacking and can not explain certain stories in the Old Testament. The main gist of the theory is that there are three main types of harlotry discussed in the Bible and only one of them is deemed "permissible". The other two are sinful. Basically, if you are married and doing prostitution (sleeping with men) you are cheating on your husband. If you are a temple prostitute, you are using idolatry in conjunction with prostitution, making it a sin. A more close to home example of this would be those mixing witchcraft or hindu practices with sex, which has cropped up in some circles. The only one that is not a sin is when the woman is a non-married prostitute. I prove that sex before marriage is not a sin, by showing how there was no blood sacrifice required for it in the Old Testament (and all sin requires blood sacrifice for atonement - Hebrews 9:22 & Leviticus 17:11) and many Christians read into the definition of the greek term "porneia" (fornication). I go through literally every verse and prove my theory.. I even make sense of the Sampson story and many other odd stories in the Old Testament (remember the harlot Rahab?) Sex before marriage is not God's ideal, but that does not mean it is a sin.

Second, St. Augustine was wrong in concluding sex was intrinsically sinful, as the action was created by God. What makes a sin is when sex is used to violate some other commandment in the Bible (such as stealing another man's wife or committing idolatry). Sex on its own, is not a sinful action.

Ok, so what is permitted for Christians? What can they really do? It is clear that God's ideal is one man, one woman married, only having sex with each other. However, is more than this allowed? Or is the ideal design a commandment we must follow? Below, I break it down below per the type of person being considered:

What Can a Married Woman Do Sexually?

    God's Ideal ~

    1. God's ideal is for married Christian couples to focus all their sexual energy solely on each other, so as to avoid all outside influences.
    2. So, the idea is to keep your sex life lively by adding diversity (fun vacations, sexy destinations, outdoor sex, positions, games, etc).

What does God Permit (though can be risky) ~

    1. Believe it or not, God permits various activities that many Christians would consider sins. I have written various articles on this website proving my various assertions below.
    2. Though God permits it, it does not mean it is wise to do, or without risk or does not have potential consequences. Just because something is not a sin, doesn't mean you should do it. So, keep this in mind while reading the below list.
    3. First, she can sleep with her husband and potentialy other women at the same time
Assuming her and her husband both agreed to it. As polygamous sexual activity is not a sin. None of the women could be married to another man (unless its swinging?).
    4. Second, she can fantisize about sexual activities
She just can not truly desire to cheat with another man. Also, watching another man have sex with another woman, does not violate this concept found in Matthew 5:27-28.
    5. Third, she can have sex however many times a day as she desires
In whatever position, using toys, games, thought fantasies, etc. She could even use discrete toys(such as the vibrating panty partner) throughout the day to be sexually aroused.
    6. Fourth, she can have sex with another woman, as God never says this is a sin in scripture
First, her husband would have to be agreeable to it and it could not be used as a wedge in the marriage. The woman can not be married to another man. Regarding women lying with women, there is no prohibition in Romans 1:26 or anywhere else in the Bible. Basically, all sin is defined in the Old Testament and we find in Leviticus 18:22 that men lying with men is a sin (idolatrous settings only?). However, there is no mention of women lying with women. Though, we see in the very next verse that contextually God takes the time to list separately that a "man can not lie with a beast" and a "woman can not lie with a beast". This shows, God did not use the term man to represent men and women, but rather, due to consistancy of writing style, we see, God is saying that women lying with women is not a sexual sin, otherwise, it would have been included in the passage. Further, Romans 1:26 says the woman is doing something "against nature" and the way it is written, it is easily noticable, that the Apostle Paul could have easily said women lying with women or women burning lust for one another, however, he did not say this. And, likely, the Apostle Paul would have already known that the Old Testament never once discusses women lying with women, so for him to actually mean this and not say it, would seem to be very hard to believe. As you would want to make sure such a thing was not confused. Further, there is more than one type of "against nature" activity that could be accomplished. For instance, if a woman was to lay with a beast, that would definitely be against nature. And I don't believe anyone would argue that a man lying with a beast surely would also be against nature. The term "likewise" in verse 23, is refering to the "against nature" factor, rather than the specific type of "against nature" activity. And if it was all too obvious that girls lying with girls was against nature, they why did men throughout the Old Testament have sex with more than one woman at a time? As, it should be quite obvious that men enjoy such things on a large level, so obviously, polygamists in the Old Testament would be having sex with two or more women at the same time (thus the women also would be sexually interacting).
    7. Fifth, she can watch pornography
(They of course have to both agree upon it). The common Christian viewpoint on pornography and prostitution is in error as I prove within my articles.
    8. Sixth, there are no rules in the Bible regarding sex only for procreation, etc.
The Catholic dogma that you have sex only for procreation is not biblical. The fact that Song of Solomon is even in the Bible, proves this to be in error. Ecclesiastes as well proves it to be in error, as King Solomon had 1000 wives and pursued pleasure with all his might.
    9. Seventh, she could potentially do nude modeling and other such things.
Of course, her husband and her would both have to agree to it. However, it is wise to fully consider the ramifications of such a lifestyle, before getting involved.

    3. First, he can be a polygamist
This is assuming his marriage contract does not commit him solely to one wife (his marriage vows that he made). Of course, his wife could agree to allow him to marry another wife, but the ball would be in her court, if you vowed to be committed only to her, as it is an agreement between you and her and you would need to honor what was said. I discuss this all in my article about polygamy here and my article about divorce and remarriage here.
    4. Second, he could potentially sleep with a non-married harlot in certain circumstances
Assuming his vows permitted and if his wife was OK with it (common marriage vows would not allow, but you can create less restrictive vows before God, as God permits polygamy throughout the Old and New Testaments). I discuss the prostitute factor here.
    5. Third, he can sleep with two or more women at one time, if his wife(wives) permitted.
Adultery does not mean, "unlawful intercourse with anyone other than your spouse". It actually means in the original biblical languages of Greek and Hebrew, "unlawful intercourse with another man's wife". As the man is head of the household and he can add servants, concubines and even wives, if he so choses.
    6. Fourth, he can watch pornography (not all types, as some are evil)
With or without his wife, assuming they agree upon it (as the marriage bond is king in this situation). Pornography is like a gun. It can be used for good or for evil. In some cases, it could be used to bring two people together and to make their sex life more enjoyable.. In others, it could be used as a way to avoid sex with your spouse. It depends on the circumstances, so the common "one size fits all" policy that many Christians take against pornography is not correct.
    7. Fifth, he could go on sexually charged vacations with his wife
For instance, they could goto nudist beaches / resorts, use sex toys together, try all manner of sexual escapades together, as long as they are in agreement with each other and there is no sexual cheating.

What Can a Single Woman Do Sexually?

    God's Ideal ~

    1. God's ideal is for Christian women to remain virgins until marriage. As this would reflect God's design in the Garden of Eden (before the fall)
    2. She, of course, could experiment with masturbation and fantasy, as I think this would be in the realm of God's ideal and would relieve desires that can build up.

    3. First, if she is living on her own, she can potentially have sex before marriage (though its not God's ideal).
So, it is not God's ideal, but also it is not a sin. Further, if she lives in her parent's household or is not of age, she needs to honor her parents by avoiding sex with a man until marriage. The idea is to save yourself for marriage, and the point is, while you live in parents house, you are to honor them.
    4. Second, she can fantisize about sexual activities, etc.
Of course, it is wisest to fantasize about a non-married man, as a married man almost always has commited himself solely to his wife.
    5. Third, she can masturbate however many times a day as she desires, using toys, games, thought fantasies, etc.
She could even use discrete toys(such as the vibrating panty partner) throughout the day to be sexually aroused.
    6. Fourth, she can watch pornography (types permitted)
The common Christian viewpoint on pornography and prostitution is in error as I prove within my articles.
    7. Fifth, she can have sex with other women, as God never says this is a sin in scripture
Regarding relationships, a woman can not get married to another woman, as this is against God's design. However, with regards to the sex act of women lying with women, there is no prohibition in Romans 1:26 or anywhere else in the Bible. Basically, all sin is defined in the Old Testament and we find in Leviticus 18:22 that men lying with men is a sin (idolatrous settings only?). However, there is no mention of women lying with women. 3. First, he can be a polygamist
If he so desires, assuming there is no civil law prohibiting within his country. I discuss this all in my article about polygamy here and my article about divorce and remarriage here.
    4. Second, he could have sex with a non-married woman, assuming she is not living with her parents (permitted but not God's ideal).
In the Old Testament, if a girl was still living with her parents, if she had sex, God instructed the man to marry her (though the father of the bride can refuse him). However, if the girl does not live with her parents anymore, she can have sex with a man, though, God's ideal is for sex to be reserved for marriage.
    5. Third, he can sleep with two or more women at one time.
Fornication does not mean, "sex between unmarried persons". If you are cheating with married women, it is a sin. Rather, according to the Strong's Greek Lexicon, it means "sexual immorality" or "idolatry". To know what is "sexually immoral", you need to consult the Old Testament here, where God lays out all the sexual restrictions. God's ideal is for sex to be in marriage, but it is not a requirement. Sampson and Judah both slept with prostitutes, after their wives died. Sampson never lost his power the first few times he slept with Dililah. It was after his hair was cut, that the Spirit of God left him and he broke his covenant with God. I discuss all of this in more detail here.
    6. Fourth, he can sleep with a non-married harlot (permitted but not God's ideal)
though, it is wiser to wait until marriage to have sex. Also, there is potential of disease and risk, if one is not careful. I discuss the prostitute factor here.
    7. Fifth, he can watch pornography (not all types, as some are bad).
For example, you could get the Playboy channel on cable TV, as I have, and just change the channel if something bad comes on it. Make sure that your pornography usage does not interfere with important day to day concerns or activities. The common "one size fits all" policy that many Christians take against pornography is not correct.
    8. Sixth, he could go to strip joints, porn shops, nudist beaches, etc (in limited fashion)
This is assuming it does not interfere with your normal life in a bad way. Consider also the monetary and temptation factors of going to strip joints or spending too much money on any one of these activities. Further, according to King Solomon, in all of his wisdom, he stated that such things as harlots and strip joints can become a deep ditch for men (like alcohol for some men), so if one finds himself "stuck" in a cycle of this and is spending all his money on harlots, I would say it is wise to flee this lifestyle. Like the prodigal son, he thought he knew what was best and ended up spending all his money on riotous living. The point is, it can be a waste of money and become addictive, just like gambling, smoking, drinking, partying, etc. and end up leading you into a deep ditch of sin (loss of self control). So, there is risk in going to such places too often. However, going, to a porn shop occassionally, having fun at some nudist beach on your vacation, or visiting a strip joint on a certain occassion, would be permissible, similar to kicking back with friends and drinking a beer on occassion.
